Governance
The overall responsibility of the Governing Body is to support the school to provide the best possible education for all children.
Governors are volunteers who collectively make up the school’s Local Governing Committee (LCG). The overall responsibility of the Local Governing Committee is to support and challenge the school to provide the best possible education for all children. They provide a much valued role in raising standards to enable our children to achieve their full potential and keep them safe.
Governors attend at least three Full Local Governing Committee meetings a year and sit on at least one Sub-Committee. Governing Bodies have a wide range of skills and experience.
Governors attend training courses provided by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust.
Governors oversee the financial performance of the school and manage the school’s admission criteria. As a Catholic School, 6 of our Governors are Foundation Governors who preserve and develop the Catholic ethos of the school and ensure that the Catholic vision of the school is upheld.
Governors serve for four years although they may be re-appointed for a further period after this time.
Our Chair of Governors is Angela Eddy and she can be contacted via the secure email at info@olsj.bwcet.com
If you require further information on the roles of a Governor or you are interested in becoming one, contact the school or the Trust at governance@bwcet.com
To nominate yourself to become a Foundation Governor, please complete the application form on the Diocesan website. The Diocese encourage all applicants to read the additional guidance documents.
