Nursery

Introduction

At Our Lady and St Joseph, Brooms, our new EYFS provision will be designed to be a vibrant and engaging environment where children thrive through play and exploration. We will prioritise high-quality resources that are carefully organised to optimise learning opportunities.

Our provision incorporates features of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, proven to facilitate children’s learning best. This includes:

  • A well-structured learning environment that stimulates curiosity and encourages independent exploration.
  • A variety of play areas, such as a cozy reading corner, imaginative role-play spaces, sensory stations, and construction zones, to cater to diverse interests and learning styles.
  • Accessible and inclusive resources that promote collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A peaceful hidden forest area, where children take part in Forest School, which provides unique learning opportunities.
  • Opportunities for both child-initiated and adult-guided activities, allowing for a balance between self-directed discovery and scaffolded learning experiences.
  • Overall, our nursery provision at Our Lady and St Joseph, Brooms, will be designed to be a dynamic and enriching space where children feel empowered to explore, learn, and grow to their fullest potential.

What to wear/Uniform

We believe that our uniform contributes to the sense of pride felt by all our pupils in the school community that they belong to. We request that all nursery pupils wear our school uniform. Further details can be found on our school uniform page. Nursery children do not need a PE kit.

We do request that all nursery children have a bag with a spare set of clothes, including underwear, in nursery for any little accidents that may occur.
