Welcome to our school

I would like to offer you a very warm welcome to Our Lady and St. Joseph Brooms Catholic Primary School. We are a small Catholic Primary School which serves the parish of Our Blessed Lady and St. Joseph/Pontop Partnership within the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. I am honoured and privileged to serve our pupils, families and parish community.

At Our Lady and St. Joseph’s every child is known, valued and nurtured. We are a family who care for one another, support one another and inspire one another to be the best that we can be. We are very much part of a larger community; within school, with our feeder school St. Bede’s, within our Parish, within Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust and within the wider community to which we serve. Developing positive relationships with families and the wider community from the earliest opportunity is our priority. We thrive when we work together; with each other and for each other.

We have a wonderful, hardworking and dedicated staff team who are committed to providing our pupils with an exciting, enriching and stimulating curriculum that ignites curiosity, awe and wonder. We strive to ensure that each child, in our care, will discover and develop their own special gifts and talents, experience success and feel a true sense of achievement. We work together to ensure pupils develop respect for the opinions and needs of others and learn to get along.

We live our mission statement daily;

We learn, we love, we grow in Jesus’ name.

We hold God’s teaching and the Gospel Values at the heart of our work, prayer and play, following Christ’s teachings to love one another and show this love to others in all we do.

We offer a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum within a calm and purposeful learning environment. Our curriculum helps prepare children for today’s modern society so that they are mindful of the needs of others. Our outdoor provision is vast; enabling us to nurture our physical and mental health and wellbeing as well as support the wider curriculum. We have just recently opened our Nursery- an exciting new chapter for our school and what better time to join our OLSJ family!

We invite you to view our Website, Facebook and Twitter pages for an insight into our exciting and vibrant school. If you require further information, please contact the school and we will do our best to help. Applications from all faith’s are welcome.

We welcome visits into school, if you would like to arrange a visit, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
